About Counselling
What is Counselling
“Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing or perhaps their dissatisfaction with life, or loss of a sense of direction and purpose. It is always at the request of the client as no one can properly be ‘sent’ for counselling”

As fully qualified Integrative counsellor I offer a safe, non-judgemental relationship within which to explore your sense of self, values, relationships, and patterns of behaviour. I will listen, support and challenge in order to help you clarify your experience, recognise stuck patterns, and find your own way of living life more fully.
I start with an initial assessment session lasting 50 minutes, where we will explore the concerns you are struggling with in a secure counselling environment. This is a chance for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you may have and to consider whether I am the right person for you. Equally, this also gives me the opportunity to understand what you are looking for and to see if I feel what I can offer will suit you. We can then agree what would be helpful for you and set a time for the counselling to begin. This may be for a set number of sessions or be left open. My work with people can be for any length of time according to their needs. This is determined by regular reviews of our work together.
If you decide to continue with counselling following the assessment session, the suggestion is that we meet at the same time once a week.
Each session will last for 50 minutes.
